Cork Branch Events

BirdWatch Ireland Cork Branch organises outings and other events for members and non-members in Cork city and the eastern side of county Cork on a regular basis. The branch also as encourages members and non-members to become involved in local bird surveys and conservation work. Our branch neighbour West Cork Branch covers activities in the western half of the county. We also feature contact details, events and a link to their website here for anyone interested in BirdWatch Ireland events in the western side of the county. Further details of upcoming events are given below.

11th May (Saturday). Dusk Chorus walk, Ballybrack Woods, Douglas (Mangala), Cork. Meet Douglas Community Centre as 8.00pm.


16th June (Sunday). Coastal Headland walk at Knockadoon (East Cork). Meet at Knockadoon Pier at 10.00am.

One-off outings (e.g. for rare birds) may take place. See our Facebook page or branch emails for details.

Swift Project Workshop

Cape Clear – Spring migration

11:45am Meet at the Cape Clear Bird Observatory (ferry from Baltimore leaves at 11:00am). This is a full day outing. Bring suitable footwear and clothing and a picnic lunch. Return on 5:00pm ferry.

June to August 2019

A Swift Pint

Throughout the summer the Branch will visit towns in West Cork on weekday evenings for a series of “Swift Pint” events. The purpose of these events is to meet up with local people, explain what the Swift project is all about, "look for Swifts and encourage interest and local participation, and finish with a chat (maybe over a pint). National Heritage Week - Family Event at Rosscarbery

3:00pm Meet at Celtic Ross Hotel Rosscarbery (OSI ref W 286 363; GPS 51.57564, -9.02925) and find out more about the birds that use the estuary on migration and during the winter. No more than two hours.
