How to Get Here

The main entrance to Harper’s Island Wetlands nature reserve is on the L3004 near Johnstown Close, Glounthaune, County Cork.

We are about 8 minutes walk by footpath from Glounthaune railway station.

It has one entrance, two viewing hides and a 2km nature trail and free public access during its opening hours. 

Train

Harper’s Island Wetlands is conveniently located only 10 minutes from Cork City, 12 minutes from Midleton and 13 minutes from Cobh by train.

The entrance to Harper’s Island Wetlands nature reserve is an eight minute walk on a foot path to the east from Glounthaune Railway Station. .

Cycle

The Glounthaune-Carrigtwohill Greenway passes Harper’s Island Wetlands. Unfortunately cycling is not allowed on the nature reserve but a bike stand is available next to the pedestrian crossing at the entrance.

Bus

Bus Eireann services 240, 241, 260, 260 stop outside Glounthaune Railway Station, 8 minutes walk from the entrance. Please see the Bus Eireann Website for further details of buses and timetables.

Car

Where possible we would ask that you please take public transport to visit us, for a greener planet and because we have limited parking available, however if you are driving to Harper’s Island Wetlands, the site is situated just off the N25 – If coming from Cork City exit at Junction 2 Little Island, then drive east on the L3004 for about 2,5km, the entrance is on the right. If coming from the Midleton side exit at Junction 3 Tullagreen, then drive west on the L3004 for about 2.6km. The entrance is on the left.  https://goo.gl/maps/XWusaz87Sjwffev79

Parking

There is free parking for 12 cars, one disabled driver space and one bus space at the entrance to the wetlands.
